'Ferrari'

This is a Croatian improvised armoured personnel carrier constructed by the Janko Gredelj , a railway car factory, in between work on armoured trains and other lighter armoured vehicles. The APC pictured saw combat on the Banija Front, Central Croatia, in autumn 1991. It is armed with a heavy machinegun as the primary armament and rolling armoured firing slits on the sides of the troop compartment for passenger weapons.

The 'Ferrari' nickname, as the official name for the vehicle was 'Janko 102', came about because one of the people in the Janko Gredeli factory while building the vehicle attached a Ferrari hood badge to the front of the APC. The vehicle survived the war and was put on display outside the factory it was built in until 2000. (1)
